The Effects of Storm Damage
The Age of Your Roof
Older roof systems are more susceptible to hail and wind damage. If you have had a bad storm in your area that included hail and/or high winds, it is in your best interest to have your roof inspected for storm damage. Substantial wind and hail damage from various storms is not necessarily visible from the ground. Future storms will aggravate the damage previously caused allowing interior water damage to your home.

If there is sufficient damage for an insurance claim, we will advise and assist you through the process.
Effects of Hail
The protective coating on composition shingles is the granular surface. When hail (3/4″ to 2″) strikes a composition shingle it damages this protective surface, and, in some cases, the asphalt coating as well as the fiberglass mat. Wood shingles and wood shakes are punctured and or split and metal accessories are dented. Skylights, A/C vents, siding, gutters, downspouts, windows, window beads, and screens are generally damaged as well.
Effects of Wind
Asphalt shingles are manufactured with a seal tab. This tab can become broken during high winds. The damage that may exist could be displaced shingles, lifted seal tabs, and gouges on the roof surface from flying debris. If any of these wind effects have occurred, you may be due a complete new roof replacement.
